Dear {First_Name},

ATTENTION GRANDPARENTS

Here is an idea for grandparents (parents, too). Did you know that you can buy a $5,000 permanent life insurance policy on your grandchildren for as little as $393? This would purchase a $5,000 face permanent life policy that would be paid up, build a cash value, and give your grandchild the option to purchase up to ten times more at age 25 without health questions or a physical. In addition, you can either pay the one-time premium up front or spread it out over 12 months. For more information give us a call or click here for more information.

WALL STREET JOURNAL SAYS DEMOCRATS ARE WRONG TO CRITICIZE WELLPOINT PREMIUM HIKES

In an editorial, the Wall Street Journal criticized Democrats critical of WellPoint's 39 percent premium hikes for 700,000 individual insurance customers of its Anthem Blue Cross subsidiary in California. The Journal says WellPoint increased its premiums because of new California insurance regulations and suggests this is precisely the sort of outcome that would result if the Democratic healthcare reform bills are passed.

POLL FINDS MAJORITY OF AMERICANS WANT CONGRESS TO SCRAP CURRENT HEALTH REFORM BILLS

The Washington Times reports that a "Zogby International poll released Tuesday shows that 57 percent of Americans do not like either of the competing healthcare bills produced by the Senate and House and say Congress should start over, as a group of bipartisan lawmakers head to a healthcare summit with President Obama next week."

Still, a majority of those polled said "they are more supportive of congressional reform of the healthcare system than they were a year ago." The Times notes that an "ABC News/Washington Post poll released last week has similar findings. It showed that 63 percent of Americans want Congress to pursue a way to reform the healthcare system." The Hill calls the Zogby poll "a brutal assessment of the Democratically authored healthcare reform bills pending in Congress and the party's approach to healthcare." In the poll, "56.4 percent of people indicated they would prefer Congress to tackle healthcare reform on a step-by-step basis." Click Here to Read this Blog Post

COLORADO GENDER EQUITY BILL ADVANCES

A bill is moving forward in the Colorado legislature to eliminate gender rating for health insurance policies in Colorado. The force behind this are Democrats who believe that women should not pay more for health insurance than men.

We don't oppose the elimination of gender rating, but feel that it should be eliminated on all insurance policies in Colorado including auto and life, not just health insurance. In addition, there is one very important point to bring up that has been ignored by the legislators. We already know young women pay more for health insurance than young men. However, at approximately age 52, men begin paying more than women for their health insurance. This difference is even larger on Medicare supplements where senior women pay up to 30 percent less than senior men. The gender equity bill would reduce the rates for young women, however older women will see an increase in their premiums to equalize the rates with older men.
